So today I will go to a used book store and hopefully walk out with a new TBR pile. I have read literally every. book. I have. This has ony happened once or twice before in my lifetime. My mom is due here directly, to sit with the rock star.
The other day I updated that not much exciting was doin' around Casa de Dreadful, having completely forgotten that TIM'S CAR WAS TOTALED. He was not in it at the time; it was parked in front of our house and at 4a.m. Saturday, ba-doom, ba-dee, some dope smashed it. He was arrested for OUI; we are getting an estimate on the damage but expect the insurance company will call the car a complete loss and cut us a check. Quoth the passenger: "Sorry about yr car, dude. [shrug] Too drunk, I guess." Oh, yes, the problem wasn't that he was driving drunk, it was that he was driving TOO drunk. Damn that Too Drunk Driving.
So now we are considering trading in both the Saturn and the Taurus and returning to our status as a one-car family. I've narrowed down my preferences to: Scion xB, Dodge Magnum, Mazda5 (except I heard they have a wee problem in that they have a tendency to catch fire), and the Honday Element. We shall see. In the end we may just fix what we have and go on our merry way, but the fact that neither car has working A/C may turn out to be a tipping point for me.
[long pause for the stuff of life]
Checked out a new-to-me used bookstore and found WAY too many serial romances, mysteries, and scifi (you know how no used bookstore ever, ever wants that stuff? Well, apparently this one does--and doesn't want true crime, because they have ZERO). Regardless, I scored a nice selection of books and now have a TBR pile again!
Also had my first iced coffee of the season (it's 70 today!!!). Can't wait for yard sale season to begin!
